With the Gammel Family Social Fund, we want to provide targeted help where support is urgently needed. The fund consists of the proceeds from our internal Christmas party, at which an auction is held among our employees every year. At our regular staff meetings, we then collect suggestions for possible donation recipients together - this is how we decide as a team where the donations should go.
This year, employee Evi Wittmann brought the Hölzgen family from Dürnhart up for discussion as a possible donation recipient. The family's story has moved many of our employees: more than six years ago, their son Gabriel fell ill with an extremely rare neurological disease - a combination of transverse myelitis and Guillain-Barré syndrome - when he was just two and a half years old. After many months in intensive care and subsequent rehabilitation measures, Gabriel was left with severe physical limitations and is now dependent on a wheelchair.
Since then, the family's everyday life has been characterized by care, therapies, hospital stays and numerous modifications and additional costs. Nevertheless, the family continues on its path with admirable strength and cohesion. Together with their children Emilia, Gabriel and little Annika, the Hölzgen family overcomes the daily challenges.
Our employees voted together and decided to support the Hölzgen family with a donation from the Gammel Family Social Fund. Max Oblinger and Evi Wittmann were thus able to hand over a donation cheque for €3,500 to the family.
The donation money can be used for many important purchases and support services in the family's everyday life - where help is urgently needed.
